Terror survivors call for empathy

DESCRIPTION

Acts of terrorism affect us all. In this video, Australian survivors of terrorist attacks, along with representatives from Victims of Terrorism Australia (VOTA) discuss our sense of shared identity, and how terrorism tries to undermine it.

The video features voices from Louisa, survivor of the Lindt Café siege in 2014; Joe, survivor of the 1 October 2005 Bali bombings; Anneke, survivor of the 22 March 2016 Brussels Airport terrorist bombing; Matthew Lamberth BM, an Australian Federal Police counter-terrorism team member who survived the 2014 terror attack outside the Endeavour Hills police station in Victoria; as well as counter-terrorism experts Dr David Gawel APM and Caroline O’Hare APM. They share how fostering empathy can support healing and recovery for the whole community.
